For We Are Not Without Struggle - Exhibition Catalog

Creative Brief

Content

For We Are Not Without Struggle discusses urban struggle and
how it is communicated through art. The book seeks to explain how struggle is actually a beautiful thing because it is a product of hu- man nature. People develop their personality and their sense of self from the struggle they experience throughout their life, which is why struggle is so profound and interesting.

Exhibition Venue

If this book were to become a fleshed out exhibition, I would want it to be displayed in common everyday areas. For example, a minimart people frequent or on the side of a busy street. I want people strug- gling through their day to see this exhibition and realize that ev- erything they do always has a meaning and that every day they live contributes to their character.

Intended Audience

The intended audience is anyone who is currently experiencing some great struggle. I want whoever sees this book/exhibition to feel seen, understood, and as though they are connected.

Why?

People will want to read this book because it is relatable. Most peo- ple have seen or experienced some of the scenes in this book and can relate to the experiences of the artists.

Intended Effect

When people view this book, I want them to be reminded of the struggles they have experienced throughout their life. I want people to recognize the ways in which that struggle shaped them into the human beings they are today.
