Project Background
The Ask
Create a opinion spread visualizing the data of 10 or more shows, movies, or documentaries for the New York Times.
My Solution
For my data visualization project I chose to compare different characteristics of drug related documentaries. To represent the data I used mandalas, to emulate the “trippy” visuals one may experience while under the influence of illicit substances. Each mandala has 4 rings, with each ring highlighting a specific characteristic the show has. For example, if the innermost ring shows an open mouth, this means that the interviewer in the documentary consumed the substances with the people they were studying! The colors of the mandalas represent what type of drug the documentary highlights. For example, if the show primarily talks about weed it would be green, while if it discusses multiple drug types it would be multicolor.
